Virginia: Equal All
In his first official act following yesterday's inauguration, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe (D), (photo below) signed an executive order protecting GLBT employees from discrimination. Shortly after taking office in 2010, former Governor Bob McDonnell (R) stripped such protections from the traditional order, claiming that there was no evidence that gay people were discriminated against. Despite the fact that in 2006, a constitutional amendment was passed that barred the state from allowing same gender marriages and from recognizing those performed legally in other states. No discrimination?
McAuliffe: "My administration is committed to keeping Virginia open and welcoming to all who call our Commonwealth home. Executive Order Number 1 sets the tone for an administration that will not accept discrimination in any form and one that will work tirelessly to ensure all Virginians have equal opportunity in the workplace, no matter their backgrounds, race, religion or whom they love."
Finally, a leader with common sense and knows right from wrong! We've waited four long years for one with a commitment to justice and fairness for all!
Peace! Get naked. Enjoy!
